It is powered by the same 1170cc boxer twin engine that powers a lot of BMW bikes. It sports conventional hardware like upside down front forks and plain-vanilla rear monoshock suspension. Of course, being a BMW, it has a ton of electronics to help the rider keep the rubber side down. There is no real competition from European manufacturers other than the Ducati Supersport. However, the land of the rising sun brings to the ring the Suzuki GSX-S1000F and the Kawasaki Ninja 1000.
