The GS series of adventure-touring motorcycles have been the highest sellers for BMW Motorrad for a very long time, and the 2019 year model has seen a major update to it. First up is the increase in displacement of the engine, which is now 1254cc worth. It also has intelligent variable valve timing, which adjusts both lift and duration as needed. Peak power and torque figures are now 136bhp and 143Nm. Hill start control, traction control and two riding modes “ road and rain “ are standard. A 6.5-inch TFT colour screen displays all the information you need, and all-LED lighting rounds off the package. Spoke rims shod with on/off road are standard, and the fuel tank is a 30-litre unit since the Adventure is a touring-focussed motorcycle that is expected to go to areas with little to no infrastructure. Since the R 1250 GS Adventure is an offroad-biased variant, it will compete with the likes of the Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro and Triumph Tiger 1200s offroad-biased variants. Prices begin at Rs 18.3 lakhs and go up to Rs 22 lakhs, ex-showroom.
