The R nineT Scrambler is a neo-retro version of the standard R nineT, a part of BMW Motorrads Heritage line-up. It gets a host of classic styling cues like raised chrome twin-pipe exhaust, black bellows, belly pan, round instrument console and sculpted steel tank. BMW Motorrad has also revised the ergonomics, the handlebar has been moved closer to the rider and the footpegs lowered to offer an upright riding position. The aluminium tank has been replaced with a conventional steel tank. The exposed frame and lack of bodywork give it a minimalistic look. Powering the R nineT Scrambler is the same 1170cc air-cooled twin-cylinder boxer engine, which delivers 110bhp and 116Nm of torque. A switchable ABS is offered as standard, though traction control is an optional extra. The front 17-inch wheel of the standard bike has been replaced with a larger 19-inch one, while the USD forks have been ditched in favour of conventional telescopic ones. These new forks have 20mm more travel while other adjustments elsewhere have increased the wheelbase by 51mm.The R nineT Scrambler competes with the Moto Guzzi Griso 1200. It is available only in a matte silver paint scheme.
