BMW Motorrad has announced the launch of the 2021 R nineT and the R nineT Scrambler in the Indian market. The range comprises of two variants “ Standard and Scrambler.
The standard BMW R nineT features a classic roadster design that takes inspiration from the companys motorsports heritage. The motorcycle gets a round headlight at the front, a twin-pod instrument cluster, a beefy fuel tank, a split-style seat, and road-biased tyres. The motorcycle tips the weighing scale at 221kg (kerb). The Scrambler, as the name suggests, is built to look like a scrambler. This variant also gets a large fuel tank, a split-seat setup, a numberplate-mounted tail lamp, and high set dual-exhausts. Unlike the standard model, the Scrambler rides on alloy wheels.
The standard model is available in four colour options “ Blackstorm Metallic/Brushed Aluminium, Option 719 Aluminium, Mineral White Metallic/Aurum, and Night Black Matt/Aluminium Matt. The RnineT Scrambler, too, is available in four colours “ Kalamatta Metallic Matt brown paint with the 23 lettering on the tank, Cosmic Blue/White colour, red and black, and Granite Grey.
The feature list on the motorcycles comprises full LED lighting, adjustable clutch/brake levers, USB charging interface, and a newly designed semi-digital instrument cluster. The electronic rider aids include two riding modes “ Rain and Road, Automatic Stability Control (ASC), ABS Pro, and Dynamic Brake Control (DBC).
The mechanical specifications on the 2021 BMW R nineT series include a 1,170cc, air and oil-cooled, two-cylinder, Boxer engine that makes 107.2bhp of power at 7,250rpm and 116Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm. The motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox. BMW Motorrad claims 0-100kmph acceleration in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 200kmph.
The suspension setup on the standard model includes upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock. The Scrambler variant uses right-side up telescopic front forks and a rear mono-shock to handle the suspension tasks. The anchoring tasks are handled by twin rotors at the front and a single disc at the back.
