Description

BMW Motorrad has brought in a wide range of bikes in India. These are in a price range that extends from Rs 15.9 lakh for the BMW R1200 GS Standard right up to Rs 28.5 lakh for the top-of-the-line BMW K1600 GTL PRO. The R1200 GS Adventure is offered in three versions. First is the standard, which is priced at Rs 17.50 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), second the dynamic+ retailing at Rs 20.90 lakh and the top-end Pro that costs Rs 21.40 lakh.Dimensions for all the three trims stand at 2,210mm length, 915mm width and 1,450mm height. The seat height is at 850mm and dry weight stands at 209kg.

Thanks to its stable suspension, the bike is famed for its enhanced performance on both road and rough terrain. This along with flexible ergonomics allows for a comfortable ride too. The braking duties are taken care of by 276mm single disc brakes with dual piston floating caliper at the front and rear. Furthermore, the tyre sizes are at 120/70 R19 in front and 170/60 R17 at the rear. The engine on the BMW R 1200 GS Adventure is the same as the 1200 GS, which is a 1,170cc engine delivering an output of 125bhp and 125Nm of torque at the rear wheels. This mill comes mated to a constant mesh six-speed gearbox with helical gear teeth. The kerb weight is 238kg and the bike has a fuel tank capacity of 20 liters.

The motorcycle is capable of a top speed of 200kmph.Well, the power figures of all the three trims remain the same. However, the three variants can be differentiated in terms of the different features they come equipped with. The standard version gets two riding modes including rain and road, while it also gets the base version of the Automatic Traction Control (ATC). On the other hand, the dynamic version comes packed with ABS Pro, Hill Start Control (HSC) and the Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) in addition to the standard features.

Furthermore, it features Gearshift Assistant Pro, LED headlights, turn indicators and auxiliary lights. Then, there is cruise control, an on-board computer and provision for aluminium panniers. Meanwhile, the top-end Pro trim gets all the afore-mentioned features, but also gets heated grips, tyre pressure control and a chrome exhaust pipe. BMW has introduced the R1200 GS Adventure as a completely-build-up (CBU) unit from Germany. It competes with the Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro and the Tiger Explorer in India.
