Ducati has upgraded the Monster 1200 S for 2017 with technological updates to meet the Euro IV emission norms. In the process, the litre-class streetfighter has also gained 15bhp, sophisticated Ohlins suspension and an exclusive concrete grey paint scheme. Despite featuring a host of modern technological upgrades, the Monster 1200 S still retains the hooligan character of its predecessors. The exposed trellis frame, chiselled fuel tank, stubby exhaust and the oval headlamp enhance its raw appeal. Based on a new platform, the Monster 1200 S is powered by an 1198cc Testastretta L-twin engine. This powerplant is now Euro IV-compliant and delivers 150bhp and 126Nm of torque through a six-speed transmission with quickshifter. Other revisions include a new single-sided swingarm, die-cast aluminium foot pegs, a sleeker fuel tank and revised tail section. It also gets upgraded Brembo M50 brakes. The comprehensive electronics package on the Monster 1200 S includes riding modes, power modes, ABS, traction control and ride-by-wire throttle. The Ducati Monster 1200 S will compete with other litre-class streetfighters like the Triumph Speed Triple R, MV Agusta Brutale 1090, BMW S1000R and the Aprilia Tuono 1100 V4.
