The Ducati Monster 821 is the replacement for Monster 796. Despite receiving a series of technological and mechanical upgrades, the Monster 821 continues to stay true to its origins as an out and out lightweight streetfighter.Aesthetically, the Monster 821 borrows cues from its elder sibling, the Monster 1200. The chassis, frame, fuel tank and the seat have been borrowed from the Monster 1200. The rear section has been modified and now features a double-sided swing arm and a two into one into two exhaust system. The bike features minimal bodywork and the exposed frame to accentuate its naked character. The Monster 821 is built around a trellis frame, which encloses a 821cc liquid-cooled 11-degree Testastretta engine. Producing 110bhp and 89Nm of torque, the engine is mated to a six-speed transmission. The Monster 821 gets modern electronic aids like an eight-level traction control, three-level ABS and three-level ride-by-wire.With the Scrambler moving into the picture, the Monster is no longer the entry-level series in Ducatis line-up. The Monster 821 goes up against the likes of the Triumph Street Triple and the Kawasaki Z800. It is available in a single red paint scheme, though Ducati also offers a special edition called Monster 821 Dark.
