The Ducati Monster 821 is the mid-spec Monster in the range. It takes design inspiration from the original 1992 Monster 900, which makes its design more appealing than before. The exhaust muffler now looks identical to the one on the Monster 1200S. The Monster 821 gets an LED headlamp, a colour display for the instrument cluster, which now displays gear position and the level of fuel in the tank. The engine is the same one as before but the power figure has dropped to 107bhp and 86Nm, because of the tighter emission norms. The gearbox is still a six-speed one, but it now gets a two-way quickshifter as an option, which will come as a relief to anyone who has ridden the older 821 in traffic! A slipper clutch is also part of the package. The electronics package remains as detailed as before “ three riding modes, three-level ABS and eight-step traction control. A Bluetooth-enabled interface is also an option. Three colours have been announced for the 821: black, red and yellow. The Ducati Monster 821 competes with the Kawasaki Z900, Triumph Street Triple RS, Yamaha MT-09 and the Suzuki GSX-S750.
