Hero introduced the Impulse in late 2008 and it was the first affordable dual sport to be available in the Indian market. Oriented towards those who choose to take the path less trodden, the Hero Impulse from first glance looks to play the part. It gets a 90/90×19 52P MRF Zappers in the front and 110/90×17 60P rear tyre which is also an MRF Zapper. The upright seating position and high front mud guard all contribute to the butch appearance of the motorcycle. It gets an analogue RPM and digital speedometer combination which is directly attached to the front cowl. Along with the usual bells and whistles, the digital section also contains the fuel gauge, trip metre and a clock for easy reference. Other standard features include electric start, front disc brake and rear swing arm with Nitrox mono suspension. It is powered by an air cooled 149cc single cylinder mill that produces 13bhp and 13Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a chain drive and a five-speed sequential transmission. The Hero Impulse is currently a niche motorcycle in the Indian market.
