The Goldwing is the Hamamatsu-based manufacturers flagship touring motorcycle which got major upgrades for 2018.The bike sports styling cues similar to the previous model, but with a sharper and aerodynamic design language. It gets a top box with panniers, the pillion chair-like seat and a full-fairing which houses the electronically adjustable windscreen and full-LED headlamp unit. The electronic package in the Honda Goldwing includes a ride-by-wire throttle, four riding modes- tour, sport, economy and rain. The selected mode will adjust the traction control settings, braking system and also the suspension damping. It also boasts of a 7-inch TFT screen that displays all basic functions, riding modes and even tyre pressure.
The Goldwing also gets Bluetooth and USB support along with Apple CarPlay for iPhone users.The Honda Goldwing is powered by an 1833cc flat-six cylinder engine that puts out 124bhp and 169Nm of power. This unit is mated to a six-speed gearbox and Honda’s proprietary DCT gearbox with reverse gear. The DCT gearbox offers a walking mode that allows the bike to crawl forward at 1.6kmph and 1kmph in reverse. The bike rides on a double wishbone front suspension setup in place of telescopic forks, and a Showa rear monoshock. Twin 320mm discs upfront and a 316mm single rear disc bring the bike to a halt. The 2018 Goldwing gets a smaller 21-litre fuel tank as compared to the previous models 25-litre capacity resulting in a reduced kerb weight of 365kg.The Honda Goldwing directly rivals the BMW K1600GTL in the Indian market and is priced at Rs 26.85 lakhs (ex-showroom).
