The GT250R is one of the first Hyosung motorcycles to be launched in India. At the time of launch, there wasnt anything quite like it in the market. The GT250R shares a lot of styling inspiration from its elder sibling, the GT650R. In fact, take away the engine and they might as well be the same motorcycle. The only thing that gives it away is the chrome exhaust canister, which is matt black for the GT650R. The fascia looks aggressive and there’s also a tall windscreen. It features a two stage projection beam for better visibility and a digital instrument cluster which looks outdated today.
The Hyosung GT250R is powered by a 250cc V-twin engine which produces 28bhp and 22Nm of torque. The oil-cooled DOHC engine gets electronic fuel injection and is mated to a five-speed gearbox with a wet multiplate clutch. The company sells the Hyosung GT250R in three paint schemes – white-red, red-black and silver-red. It competes with the Honda CBR250R, Yamaha YZF-R3 and the Kawasaki Ninja 300.
The GT250R still remains a unique proposition at the price it is the only one to displace 250cc and have two cylinders arranged in a V. It is also the only one in the segment that is truly a full-size bike, so if youre six feet tall, the Hyosung is the only one on which you can stretch out on. The size and lack of prominent badging also offers admiring glances from everyone. However, if it is outright performance and handling youre looking for, the Hyosung isnt the best choice in the segment. the GT250R is priced at Rs 3 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi)
