Description

This Bike is out of production.

Indian Motorcycle decided to step away from the crowd while designing the flat-tracker inspired FTR 1200 S. The design of the seat, twin exhaust outlets and short rear section add to its appeal. While it gets upright handlebars, the long tank and rear set foot pegs offer a slightly aggressive riding posture.

The motorcycle is available in two versions- the 1200 S and the 1200 S Race Replica. While the FTR 1200 S sports an all-black paint scheme, the 1200 S Race Replica gets a red and black combination with the trellis frame and monoshock finished in red. The bike comes equipped with with LED lighting for the headlamp, tail lamp as well as turn signals. It also sports a Bluetooth-enabled 4.3-inch LCD display. In terms of electronic rider aids, the FTR 1200 S gets three ride modes; Sport, Standard and Rain, a traction control system, wheelie control along with a lean-sensitive stability control system.

Powering the FTR 1200 is a 1203cc, V-twin engine that produces 120bhp and 115Nm of torque. This unit is mated to a six-speed transmission and slipper clutch with final chain drive. It rides on alloy wheels; 19-inch front and an 18-inch rear tyre with dual-sport Dunlop DTR-3 rubber with a pattern that mimics ones on a flat-track bike. Suspension duties on the Indian are taken care of by 43mm, inverted forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Meanwhile braking is done by a setup of twin 320mm front discs and a 265mm rear disc sourced from Brembo.

In terms of competition, the Indian FTR 1200 goes head on against the Triumph Scrambler 1200, Ducati Scrambler 1100 and the BMW R nineT Scrambler.
