The new ER-6n is the naked version of Kawasakis successful sports tourer motorcycle “ the Ninja 650. Interestingly, it is the Japanese brands first model in India which isnt part of the Z or the Ninja family. The ER-6n is built around a double-pipe perimeter-style frame that is visible to enhance its overall look. It is designed more for urban riding unlike its faired sibling which is more of a sports tourer. The motorcycle looks very compact and gets a high-riding fuel tank, new headlamp and split seats with a big grab rail.Cosmetically, the major difference between ER-6n and the Ninja 650 is the absence of the full-fairing that makes the ER-6n slightly intriguing.
However, majority of the components of both these bikes are same like the fuel-tank, tail section, seats, rear view mirrors and wheels. The ER-6n also gets a new instrument cluster which looks very modern. The ER-6n is powered by a 649cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin engine that develops 72bhp of power at 8500 rpm and 64Nm of torque at 7000 rpm . The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox that transfers power to the rear wheel via a chain drive. Kawasaki has confirmed that its the same engine as the Ninja 650 and that the company has made no changes in terms of power delivery. The ER-6n is now on sale in all pro-biking and Kawasaki showrooms via the completely-knocked-down (CKD) route. Available only in one colour for now, it competes mainly with the Hyosung GT 650N.
