Ducati has launched the 2022 Multistrada V2 in India at a starting price of Rs. 14.65 lakhs (ex-showroom) thereby successfully replacing its existing cheaper Multistrada 950 in the flourishing premium adventure-tourer segment in the country. The new V2, which also comes in a premium ‘S’ variant, competes directly against the BMW F 900 XR and the Triumph Tiger 900.
The base V2 comes in a single colour – Ducati Red with gloss black frame and black rims. The S, on the other hand, gets 2 colour options – Ducati Red paint scheme (with black frame, black wheel rims with red tags) and Street Grey (with black frame and GP Red wheel rims).
Bookings are now open across all Ducati dealerships Delhi – NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Kolkata, and Chennai while deliveries will begin immediately.
Powered by the updated 937 cc Testastretta engine, the adventure bike from Ducati has got changes to the rider ergonomics and some major revisions for weight reduction as well. The seat height is now down by 10 mm to 830 mm with the seats now sculpted to be more flatter and narrower with inseam arch reduced by 40 mm. Also, the new V4 inspired footpegs are placed down by 10 mm from the seat.
The adventure bike is now 5 kg lighter and weights 199 kg dry with major weight reduction done from updated components that include new connecting rods, gear drum, forks, 8-disc hydraulic clutch, clutch cover, mirrors, and rims. The fuel tank capacity is 20 litres.
The trellis frame with the double-sided aluminium swingarm is a direct lift from the 950. The S version features a new 48 mm SACHS fork and a SACHS rear shock absorber with Ducati Skyhook Suspension EVO semi-active suspension system. But the base V2 gets a 48 mm diameter upside-down KYB front fork. The suspension travel at both the sides is 170 mm.
The braking duties are carried out by dual 320 mm Brembo discs with monobloc callipers at the front and 265 mm single disc at the rear. The wheels are slapped with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II, 120/70 ZR19 tyre at the front and 170/60 ZR17 tyre at the rear.
Though the 11 degree engine is the same unit seen on the older bike, it now features lighter clutch and gearbox. The L-twin motor with desmodromic distribution puts out 113 HP at 9000 RPM and 94 Nm at 6750 RPM meeting Euro 5 regulations. It also has updated maintenance interval with oil change every 15,000 km and valve clearance check every 30,000 km.
The features on offer include Bosch cornering ABS, vehicle hold control, dynamic 8-level traction control, and 4 riding modes – Sport, Touring, Urban, Enduro. The instrument console features an LCD screen for the base V2 while the S variant gets a 5-inch colour TFT display.
The S model also also gets hands free system, cruise control, quick shifter, full-LED headlight with Ducati Cornering Lights (DCL) system, and backlit handlebar controls. Ducati Multimedia System is available on both the variants though. The optional accessories include side panniers, heated grips, and a center stand.
There is also a performance catalogue for the bike that includes light spoked wheels, a low seat, and a lowered suspension kit which will further reduce the seat height to 790 mm.
