Realistic illustrations of the 400cc Bajaj Pulsar have surfaced online. It seems to be based on 220 as well as NS200 models

The Bajaj Pulsar is one of the most popular bikes in India. It strikes a balance between mass appeal and a fun-to-ride segment. Over the last two decades, many Pulsar models have graced Indian roads. Initially, the Bajaj Pulsar was offered 150cc and 180cc options. However, the company has expanded the range to include 125cc to 220cc engines. While the original 150cc and 180cc models have received many updates, they still continue to sell despite the introduction of the new-gen platform on the NS200. It seems that the Pune-based motorcycle manufacturer will soon bring the next-gen Pulsar 150. Meanwhile, a few realistic renderings of the rumoured 400cc Bajaj Pulsar have been doing the rounds of the internet.

Bajaj Pulsar 400cc Concepts from Auto Expo 2014

The Bajaj Pulsar SS400 and CS400 concepts were initially shown around Auto Expo 2014. However, these were later launched as different motorcycles. The SS400 gave birth to the RS200. Meanwhile, the CS400 led to the launch of the Dominar. Now, a couple of renderings of a Bajaj Pulsar concept have surfaced online. These posts by ABIN Design’s on Instagram give a hint of the looks of the rumoured 400cc Bajaj Pulsar. It seems to be based on the NS200 as well as the 220. As you can see in the pictures above, the concept bike sports a full front fairing. The tank also comes from the NS200. However, the full fairing pays homage to the half-fairing of the 220. It features a sporty look and comes with a pretty huge air vent.

The front fascia, in fact, is much like that of the Bajaj Pulsar 220. It carries the same projector headlight, disc brake, and rear-view mirrors. However, the fly screen looks bigger and the mudguard is new. Also, the upside-down front forks are different and the alloy wheels look new. Other changes include the wide soft-compound front tire. On the side profile, you can see a semi-exposed red-painted trellis frame and a stubby sports exhaust. The split seats and the rear-seat foot-pegs offer a sporty riding position. The new tailpiece also features an edgy design. It is to be noted that this concept is not officially commissioned by Bajaj Auto Ltd, so the final results might vary.

Specifications

As of now, the company has not revealed anything about the specs of the 400cc Bajaj Pulsar. However, it is very likely to feature a fine-tuned Dominar engine similar to the Katoom. The single-cylinder fuel-injected oil-cooled engine on the Bajaj Dominar 400 provides a maximum power of 40 PS and a peak torque of 35 Nm. Interestingly, the same motor produces 43.5 PS and 37 Nm of maximum power and peak torque on the KTM Duke 390. The 400cc Bajaj Pulsar is likely to get six-speed transmission with a slipper clutch.
