Bajaj To Launch A ‘Dramatically Different’ Sub-125 cc Product
Bajaj to launch an all-new product in the sub 125 cc segment, it will be pitched to pull lost volumes for the company
Bajaj is gearing up to widen its sub 125 cc space, again, with a brand new product which might be never seen before. We hope the new product lives up to the expectations of the customers and won’t be discontinued in a short span of time.
During the annual general meeting of Bajaj held recently, the company said its new formula is AI which means ‘Affordable Inspiration’ and it’s about offering customers with an irresistible offer to open their wallets.
As a part of this new formula, the company said it will launch a new product in the sub 125 cc segment in the next financial year that starts from 1st April, 2023, and ends on 31st March, 2024. It will be pitched to pull lost volumes for the company.
Bajaj said it’s looking at a product that’s something dramatically different to carve out a sizeable share in this segment that’s currently dominated by Hero MotoCorp and Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India.
As of now, Bajaj sells 3 products in the sub 125 cc segment namely CT 110X, Platina 110, and Platina 100. While Platina brand sells decently, CT continues to post dismissal numbers.
Last month, the Platina twins sold 27,732 units combined becoming the 11th best-selling 2-wheelers in the country. But, they have also witnessed a YoY de-growth of 36 percent. If this trend continues, soon, Platina brand might also see the fate of the CT.
On the other hand, Hero MotoCorp sold 2,42,358 units of the Splendor and 1,13,155 units of the HF last month with a combined output of more than 3.5 lakh units. It is this huge number which Bajaj might be targeting.
If the Chakan-based bike maker is able to pull even 50,000 customers from Hero, it will be huge win for the brand. The company specifically mentioned that its new product will provide an irresistible offer for buyers.
As far as customers in this segment are concerned, all they want is a no-nonsense bike that can munch miles with great fuel efficiency, offer good punch within the city, and be low maintenance. If the company is able to strike the chord here, it has a winner.
It must be noted that Bajaj didn’t mention that the upcoming launch would be a bike. So, there are possibilities of the company launching a scooter. They could launch an IC variant of the Chetak EV to invoke the nostalgia.
