CS Santosh Leaves Hero to Ride Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 in Dakar?

CS Santosh was a part of the Hero team at the Dakar rally and has been with the company for 6 years. However, as per some latest reports, he is planning to leave. In fact, Hero Motors announced something along these lines on their official Instagram handle. However, the famed biker has not revealed anything yet. Nevertheless, we think that this might be the end of the road for this successful relationship. Let us check out the details here.

CS Santosh To Leave Hero for Dakar Rally?

Hero Moto Sports handle on Instagram posted this story which said, ” Thank You CS, for six amazing years of racing the limits together! We wish you all success in your next journey, Love, Hero Motosports Family”. Now, this clearly indicates that the two have parted ways. But we are waiting for an official confirmation from the rider. He spent much of this year recovering from a serious accident that he encountered at the Dakar Rally last year (2021) after which he was sent into an induced coma for several days.

After recovering, he has lost memory of a lot of events in his life due to head trauma. But he is excited to be a part of the MotoGP that is slated to take place at the Buddh International Circuit in Uttar Pradesh next year (2023). We might see him in action there. Until then, he might join Royal Enfiled to participate in the Dakar Rally with the rally-spec RE Himalayan 450 Raid that is about to launch soon in our market. The special rally edition will most likely be unveiled in a couple of years.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 might come powered by a 450-cc liquid-cooled engine. As per Bikewale, the motor will produce 40 hp and 45 Nm of peak power and torque. Doing the transmission duties will be a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. At the front, the bike will have USD forks and a 21-inch wheel. The rear section will have the mono shock absorber and 17-inch wheel. It might have a fuel tank of around 20 litres. The bike will strike a balance between highway ride comfort and off-roading ruggedness. We shall wait a bit longer to see the final version.
