Honda India Has Eyes On Budget ADV Segment, Hero Better Check Its Pulse
Honda got approval for the CRF190L patent only recently
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has got the patent of the CRF190L entry-level adventure motorcycle registered in the country recently.
Based on the same platform that also underpins the Hornet 2.0 and the CB200X, the CRF190L has proper adventure bike looks, well as much a small bike such as this can pull off.
It comes with wire-spoked wheels wrapped with all-terrain rubber, long-travel suspension, high-set muffler, vertically stacked headlight, a flyscreen, a single-piece seat, rear carrier rack and quite pleasing bodywork.
Honda is known to make changes to motorcycles that it sells elsewhere to better suit Indian tastes (apart from the exotic ones, of course) and when it brings the CRF190L to the market, the bike should look noticeably different.
While the international model makes do with 16 BHP and 15 Nm from its 184cc engine, the Indian version should get the Hornet 2.0’s tune, which would result in it having 17 HP and 16.1 torques. The gearbox will be a 5-speed unit.
Since the bike will weigh around 145 kg, even with such a power figure, it should prove to be nippy to say the least. It should certainly prove to be as capable as its primary rival, the Hero Xpulse 200.
Although the Honda CRF190L patent has been filed in India, it is, as mentioned earlier, unlikely to look like the international model and it certainly will not use the same name. Honda has trademarked the ‘NX200’ moniker already, which should suit this model rather well.
