Honda Patents Beat Scooter in India: Key Features and Market Potential
After introducing the NX125 and several other international models, Honda has now patented the Beat scooter in India. Like the NX125, the Beat shares its 109.5cc engine with the popular Honda Activa scooter.

1. The Beat’s 109.5cc engine has the same bore and stroke as the Activa’s, though its output of 9hp and 9.2Nm is higher than the Activa’s 7.8hp and 8.9Nm.
2. The scooter comes equipped with features like keyless ignition, an anti-theft alarm, and a USB charger.
3. It rides on 14-inch wheels, similar to the Yamaha Aerox 155.
Unlike many scooters in Southeast Asia that have a spine frame, the Honda Beat features a more practical floorboard design. It also has a telescopic fork and monoshock suspension that are longer than typical Indian scooter setups, along with a low 742mm seat height and a lightweight 87-88kg kerb weight.
However, Honda has a history of patenting international models in India without actually launching them. So it remains to be seen if the company will break that pattern and bring the Activa-powered Beat to Indian showrooms, especially given the success of the segment-breaking Yamaha Aerox 155.
