Husqvarna has recently introduced the Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 250 in India, broadening its range of vehicles. Interestingly, none of the Pierer-owned brands currently offer multi-cylinder motorcycles for sale in India. However, could this scenario change with the arrival of the new Husqvarna Svartpilen 801?

Husqvarna has recently introduced the Svartpilen 801 in various global markets, offering it at an attractive price point. For instance, in America, it is priced at USD 10,899, which roughly converts to Rs. 9 lakh in India considering the current currency exchange rates. It would be highly appreciated if Husqvarna considers launching the Svartpilen 801 in India as well.

The Svartpilen 801 is the largest naked motorcycle offering from Husqvarna. It boasts a unique design inspired by Scrambler motorcycles and is exclusively finished in dark shades, in line with its Svartpilen name. The design is distinct yet adheres to the Swedish minimalistic approach.

The overall appeal of the Svartpilen 801 is both rugged and sophisticated. We are particularly fond of its sculpted fuel tank, side body panels that cover the rear subframe, the up-swept exhaust, the downward tilted bar-end mirrors, the intriguing seat layout, the round headlight and ORVMs, as well as the stylish flyscreen, among other features.

Specs, powertrains and features

The Husqvarna Svartpilen 801 is equipped with the same 799cc parallel twin cylinder engine found in the KTM 790 Duke, replacing the single cylinder unit seen in the Svartpilen 701. This powerful engine is capable of producing 103.25 bhp peak power at 9,250 RPM and 87 Nm peak torque at 8,000 RPM.

Paired with a 6-speed gearbox, the engine offers three selectable rider modes – Street, Sport, and Rain. Electronic rider aids include lean-sensitive cornering traction control and cornering ABS. The optional Dynamic Pack introduces a fourth riding mode – Dynamic Mode, along with features like cruise control, wheelie control, and motor slip regulation.

The main frame is shared with the 790 Duke, while the rear subframe is unique. The dry weight of the bike is 181 kg, with a fuel tank capacity of 14L. The componentry includes adjustable WP USD telescopic front forks, J.Juan 4-pot radial callipers gripping twin 300mm front discs, a 240 mm rear disc brake, and dual-purpose Pirelli tires (120/70-ZR17 front and 18/55-ZR17 rear).

Additional features consist of a 5-inch TFT color instrument screen with Bluetooth connectivity, navigation, and other functions, similar to the 390 Duke and Svartpilen 401.
