The Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650 scrambler has been leaked ahead of its official unveiling, thanks to images from its homologation process in Australia. This new model features a USD front fork, twin shocks, and a 2-into-1 exhaust system, making it better suited for light off-roading compared to the standard Interceptor.

One noticeable change is the block-pattern tyres, which provide improved grip on rough terrain. The front wheel appears larger than the rear, suggesting a shift from the Interceptor’s 18-inch wheels to a possible 19-inch front and 17-inch rear combination, enhancing its off-road capabilities.

The biggest update is the upside-down fork, replacing the conventional setup, which likely offers increased travel and ground clearance. The seat height may also be affected, differing from the Interceptor’s 804mm. Additionally, the instrumentation has transitioned from a twin-pod to a single-pod design, likely featuring a larger digital display.

While the engine remains largely unchanged, it now sports a lighter 2-into-1 exhaust routed under the engine, differing from the high-mount setup on the Triumph Scrambler. The fuel tank maintains a similar look to the Interceptor’s but features scrambler-inspired side panels. The revamped tail section includes a round tail-lamp and a noticeably larger gap between the rear tyre and mudguard. An unusual rear reflector is mounted on a long prong beneath the number plate, likely for the Australian market.

Expecting an output of around 47hp and 52Nm, the Bear shares its frame with the Interceptor but has altered geometry and suspension, affecting its dynamics. With homologation in progress, the Interceptor Bear 650 is likely to debut at EICMA in Milan starting November 5th, with pricing anticipated to be slightly higher than the standard Interceptor, which ranges from Rs 3.03 to Rs 3.31 lakh.
