Ola S1 Pro Allegedly Accelerates In Reverse Leading To Severe Accident
Ola Electric continues to face issues 1 after another with its maiden S1 Pro scooter
Ola Electric has landed in yet another trouble with its S1 Pro scooter reportedly plagued with issues. Even before the buzz surrounding the Guwahati accident could fade away, another major accident has happened with the S1 Pro which seems to accelerated in the reverse all of sudden without notice.
The accident has happened to the 65-year-old father of a techie, Pallav Maheshwari, based out of Jodhpur. The incident has reportedly taken place when the victim was about to park the S1 Pro into the house. The scooter had launched itself in reverse all of the sudden leading to the victim getting severely injured in the head and arm.
In a LinkedIn post, Pallav claimed that his S1 Pro started accelerating in reverse mode with his father’s head banging against a wall and one of his arms getting fractured. As of date, he claimed, his dad has got 10 stitches on the head and 2 plates inserted on to his broken arm.
According to the techie, he was unhesitant to book the scooter during its launch itself as he wanted to back startups like Ola bringing new tech to the table. He said he was even ecstatic about the Indian EV revolution but never expected the product to come loaded with these issues.
The scooter was reportedly delivered to him on 15th January and that he had witnessed the reverse mode issue on the second day itself. But he seems to have brushed it off owing to the issue not repeating again until the day of the accident.
In fact, the scooter was also recently serviced by Ola with the vehicle control unit (VCU) tweaked as well correcting any software glitches. Ola Electric is in the process of silently fixing issues in these units. After his post went viral, it seems, Ola’s team had contacted him to keep them updated about his father’s health.
In the backdrop of this incident, the EV company’s chief marketing officer Varun Dubey has also reportedly quit. Just a few days back, the company’s CTO Dinesh Radhakrishnan, and Ola Cars CEO Arun Sirdeshmukh made an exit.
Since 2020, many top guns have left the company. They include CTO Swayam Saurabh, COO Gaurav Porwal, HR head Rohit Munjal, and General Counsel Sandeep Chowdhury. Ola Electric co-founders Ankit Jain and Anand Shah have also left the company.
So far, Ola Electric has faced major 4 controversies. The first 1 was an Ola S1 Pro randomly catching fire in Pune. Secondly, during the start of April, an Ola S1 Pro user in Guwahati landed in a major accident which resulted in his limbs getting broken.
Though the family of the victim claimed that the accident was due to the failure of the scooter’s regenerative braking system, Ola refuted it stating that the accident happened only due to over-speeding and panic-braking as per the collected vehicle sensor data.
The third controversy was an S1 Pro user in Ambur, Tamilnadu, setting his scooter ablaze after facing unaddressed complaints with respect to range and registration. The final controversy happened when an S1 Pro user in Pune hauled his scooter in the streets by tying it to a donkey due to unaddressed complaints.
