Revamped Design and Mechanical Upgrades for the Triumph Speed Twin 900

The most significant alteration in the Speed Twin 900 pertains to its aesthetic, as the model now adopts the more streamlined design language of the larger 1200 variants. Similar to the 1200s, the 900 features a full-LED headlight, shorter fenders, and a minimalist tail-light. Buyers can choose from three color options: white, silver, and black, and there are over 120 accessories available directly from Triumph’s catalog.

On the mechanical front, a notable update is the introduction of a non-adjustable Marzocchi USD fork, which replaces the previous gaitered telescopic fork. Marzocchi also provides the twin rear shock absorbers. The previous axial Brembo caliper and 310mm front disc have been upgraded to a larger 320mm disc paired with a Triumph-branded radial caliper. While the tyre sizes remain unchanged at 100/90-18 for the front and 150/70-R17 for the rear, the compound has been updated to Michelin Road Classic tyres.

The seat height of the Speed Twin 900 has increased to 780mm from the previous 765mm, although an accessory low seat option is available to reduce it to 760mm. The previous single-pod digi-analogue display has been replaced with the TFT unit found in the larger 1200 models, and the switchgear is now consistent with that of the larger Speed Twin variants.

The electronics package includes Road and Rain riding modes, along with cornering ABS and traction control. The liquid-cooled, 900cc parallel-twin engine continues to deliver 65hp at 7,500rpm and 80Nm of torque at 3,800rpm. The 900 is equipped with a 5-speed gearbox, in contrast to the 1200’s 6-speed unit, and can be fitted with options such as cruise control and heated grips.

While international pricing has yet to be announced, the current Speed Twin 900 is priced at GBP 8,795 (approximately Rs 8.49 lakh in India). It remains to be seen how much Triumph will adjust the price of its most economical model within the modern classic lineup.
