Royal Enfield Bullet 350’s price from 1986 will pleasantly surprise you

The All New Classic 350 is priced at Rs 2.2 lakhs, according to their official website (ex-showroom). But were you aware of the fact that this bike used to cost Rs18,700? Although it might seem strange,people are amazed to see the bike’s price from January 23, 1986.

A vintage bike enthusiast posted it on Instagram where it showed that the bullet’s invoice of Rs 18,700 is 36 years old and was issued by a dealer named Sandeep Auto Company in Bokaro, Jharkhand.

The picture was shared on the social media platform by royal enfield_4567k. From the picture, we can note that it is from the 23rd of January 1986, and at the time company was only called Enfield. The bill was issued in the name of M/s R S Engineering Industries. The handwritten bill of sale is in the nostalgic color of paper which was popularly used at the time. The model of sale is the Standard Bullet 350 cc which has been around for the longest period.

The company operates manufacturing plants in Chennai in India. The Enfield Cycle Company of Redditch, Worcestershire, England, which created and produced the Royal Enfield Bullet, the longest-lasting motorbike design in history, produced the first Royal Enfield motorcycle in 1901. Indian-born Madras Motors, which is now a part of Indian carmaker Eicher Motors Limited, obtained the licence from the original English Royal Enfield.

The model billed in the picture is its standard 350 cc bike. This bike is an extremely important bike in the company’s lineup since its beginning. After the independence of India from the British Empire, the new administration searched for a motorbike that would be suitable for its army to use in border patrol. The Royal Enfield Bullet was determined to be the best motorcycle for the task in 1952. The government purchased 800 of the 350 cc models in 1954. The Redditch business joined together with Madras Motors in India to create “Enfield India” in 1955 so that Madras could produce the 350 cc Royal Enfield Bullet motorbike under license.

Fast forward to seven decades later the company has now become one of the most succesful two-wheeler brands in the country. Currently it has prodcuts in multiple segments and is on its to route to introduce a lot more in the future. It has been reported that the company is currently working on all-new 450 cc Dual Over Head Camshaft (DOHC) engine which features liquid cooling for the first in its history. The first sighting of this engine occurred on the treacherous terrains of Leh-Ladakh mounted on what has been figured out as the new generation of the Himalayan Adventure tourer.
