Royal Enfield Working On ‘Differentiated’ Electric Motorcycle With Global Appeal, Launch Likely By 2025
Royal Enfield is working on their first electric motorcycle which is scheduled to launch in the next two years.
This has been confirmed by Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director & CEO of Eicher Motors.
“We are progressing on our EV journey and have several ideas that are already in advanced stages of testing,” Royal Enfield CEO B Govindarajan was quoted by the Economic Times as saying.
The report says that oldest motorcycle maker might be enlisting help from the Spanish electric motorcycle manufacturer Stark Future, which RE’s parent company acquired a stake in.

The company had invested Rs 50 million in Barcelona-based start-up Stark Future in December.
Stark Future is known for its Stark Varg electric dirt bike, which was launched in 2022 with sales of 1,000 units within the first 24 hours.
Royal Enfield is also building its own in-house EV team, with over 65 employees currently on board.
Royal Enfield has aligned a capex of Rs. 1000 crores for 2023-24 and a part of it is aligned for new product development and EVs.
Royal Enfield has hired around 100 people who are dedicatedly working on the electric vehicle lineup of the company.

They are planning a production capacity of up to 1.5 lakh units of EVs at the existing facility.
Lal believes that the EV business will be a growth engine for Eicher Motors in the long term.
The production version is expected to get inspired by the design language of the Electrik01 concept.
