Suzuki Access Electric to Make Its Grand Debut Tomorrow

Suzuki’s First Electric Scooter in India to be Unveiled at Bharat Mobility Expo 2025

Suzuki Motorcycle India is all set to step into the electric mobility segment with the unveiling of its first electric scooter, the Access Electric, on 17 January at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. This marks a significant milestone for the brand as it ventures into the fast-growing electric two-wheeler market in India.

The Next Chapter for Suzuki

The Access Electric is likely to share its platform with Suzuki’s upcoming e-Burgman, mirroring the relationship between their petrol-powered counterparts. Codenamed XF091, the electric scooter might officially debut as the Access Electric or e-Access.

One key difference between the two electric scooters could lie in their battery configurations. While the e-Burgman is expected to feature removable and swappable batteries (a feature already present in its Japanese version), the Access Electric will likely use a fixed battery. Though removable batteries have their advantages, such as convenience in recharging, they often reduce under-seat storage space, making fixed batteries more practical for daily usage.

What to Expect from the Access Electric?

While detailed specifications will be revealed at the expo, here’s what we know so far:

  • Design: The Access Electric is expected to resemble the Suzuki Access 125, maintaining its classic styling with modern tweaks for the electric version.
  • Performance: The scooter could deliver a real-world range of 80-100km on a single charge and a top speed of approximately 80kmph, making it a practical choice for city commutes.
  • Production Status: Sources indicate that production has already begun, and the scooter may hit the Indian market by late 2025.

The Journey So Far

Suzuki had previously showcased the Burgman Electric in 2023, which was later spotted undergoing tests on Indian roads. While the Japanese version of the e-Burgman features a 4kW motor delivering 18Nm of torque, it offers a modest 44km range and 60kmph top speed, which may not align with Indian market expectations.

Pricing and Competition

The Suzuki Access Electric is expected to be priced between Rs 1.20 lakh and Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with established players and upcoming models, including the:

TVS iQube
Bajaj Chetak
Ather 450S and Rizta
Ola S1 Air
Honda Activa Electric
Vida V2

Conclusion

With the unveiling of the Access Electric, Suzuki is poised to make a strong entry into the electric two-wheeler market. Offering a blend of performance, practicality, and Suzuki’s trusted design ethos, the Access Electric could become a popular choice among Indian commuters. Stay tuned for more updates from the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025.
