Performance bike sales in March 2022 show peoples’ interest in the litre-class Kawasakis
It would have been a celebration mode for Kawasaki as the performance bike sales figures in March 2022 show that the Japanese brand has sold more than 100 litre-class bikes, a feat not so easy in a country like India that too at a time when the entire world is reeling under Covid and Ukraine-war crisis.
Yes, you heard that right! Kawasaki Ninja 1000 has sold 57 units while the brand’s litre-class flagship Ninja ZX-10R has sold 47 units taking the combined figure to a whooping 104 units.
Both these awesome machines are no cheap by any means with the former retailing close to Rs. 12 lakhs and the latter Rs. 16 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom).
Taking the third and fourth place in this list, both the Kawasakis have outsold bikes that cost not even quarter of their prices. The best examples are the KTM 390s which found only 1 home in March.
The Royal Enfield 650 twins, as usual, became the highest sellers registering a good 1,226 unit sales. They took the lead by a very comfortable margin thanks to the value they offer for their asking prices. In fact, they are among the cheapest 650s in the entire world.
The Kawasaki Ninja 300 took the second spot selling over 100 units. The low sales are owing to the lack of updates. But with the 2022 version launched now, sales are expected to pickup.
The Kawasaki Ninja 650 claimed the fifth spot selling 33 units. With people slowing moving higher up the segments, the 650 is losing its sheen now.
Honda CBR 650R took the next place followed Tiger Sport 660. Surprisingly, Kawasaki Z900 is no longer in contention now. It seems customers are holding a bit and buying the Ninja 1000.
The Honda Africa Twin took the eighth place followed by Triumph Tiger 900 and Trident 660. The Fat Bob’s 15 unit sales made sure Harley-Davidson found a place in this list.
