In January 2022, scooter sales tanked!
The scooter sales chart comprising best-selling models in January 2022 saw the vehicle that has occupied the top spot in the segment continue to extend its lead over its peers.
In January, Honda retailed 1,43,234 units of the Activa range and the TVS Jupiter and Suzuki Access 125 followed suit with, respectively, 43,476 and 42,148 unit sales.
Honda’s Dio was fourth as it registered sales of 27,837 units last month and during the same period, TVS sold 21,120 units of its NTorq scooter.
Sixth place in the January 2022 scooter sales chart was occupied by the Hero Pleasure+ which found just over 13,000 new homes in the month and was the last vehicle in the top 10 to cross the 10,000 unit sales mark.
The scooters in the last 4 positions – Suzuki Burgman Street 125 (9504 units), Yamaha Ray ZR 125 (7030 units), Suzuki Avenis (6314 units) and Fascino 125 (6221 units) – could not cross the 10,000 unit figure.
Except the Burgman Street and the Avenis, all the other scooters in the top 10 sales chart did not do well when it comes to the year-on-year (YoY) sales comparison.
In all, the best-selling scooters registered collective sales of just over 3.20 lakh units, while during the same period last year, they found over 4.12 lakh new homes, resulting in a YoY sales degrowth of 22 percent.
