First 6 places remain the same as the previous month

May 2022 scooter sales almost remain unchanged when compared to the previous month, Ola S1 Pro takes 9th spot

May 2022 scooter sales saw most of the top-sellers retaining the same position as the previous month. In fact, the first 6 places were taken the same scooters as April, 2022. Honda Activa series took the lead by selling a humongous 1.49 lakh units.

The Honda was distantly followed by TVS Jupiter twins – 110 and 125 which recorded over 60k unit sales. But this isn’t the best performance from the Jupiter which easily clocks more than 60k sales.

At number 3, Suzuki Access retained its place selling almost 36k units. Access has lost its pandemic performance when it used to regularly challenge TVS Jupiter and, at times, even overtaking it for the second place.

As usual, the moto scooters – TVS Ntorq 125 and Honda Dio took the next 2 places selling more than 20k units. The Dio has achieved a phenomenal YoY growth of 1108 percent and has made a strong comeback this time.

At number 6, Hero Pleasure+ XTEC recorded more than 18k unit sales which is pretty decent for the entry-level scooter with Hero’s own engine technology. It still has a long way to go to prove its long term durability.

2020 Suzuki Burgman Street Review 16
Suzuki Burgman Street has witnessed excellent MoM growth

Suzuki Burgman Street has made great inroads in May selling over 13k units and taking the seventh place. It has sold over 3000 units more than what it managed in April overtaking even the latest kid, Avenis. It’s the cheapest maxi scooter money can buy today.

Hero Destini 125 and its XTEC variant bagged the eighth spot. At number 9, Ola S1 Pro has become the lone EV in this list. The scooter has suffered a MoM de-growth owing to various unsolved issues reported by users.

Suzuki Avenis took the last place. The new scooter’s sales have been cannibalised by Burgman Street and is expected to regain lost ground next month.
