Triumph 400 Speed – Price Rs 2.23 Lakh for first 10k buyers
Considering everything that Triumph’s 400 duo is packing and the price point, they will primarily rival upcoming KTM 390 range
India’s motorcycle company Bajaj Auto teamed up with UK’s Triumph Motorcycles to launch two new 400cc bikes —Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X — on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. The Speed 400 is priced at Rs 2.33 lakh.
However, the first 10,000 customers can purchase it for Rs 2.23 lakh. The price of the Scrambler 400 was not announced on Wednesday.
Rajiv Bajaj, the managing director of Bajaj Auto, said the Triumph bikes will be manufactured at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan 2 plant, which has a capacity of 25,000 units per month.
Minimalist finish and popping colours
Golden USD front forks and exhaust pipe finishing breaks the black effect around the engine bay. Fuel tank is the only place where there is a paint job.
The Speed 400 uses a new TR-series engine. It is a fuel-injected, liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with a cubic capacity of 398.15 cc.
It puts out 39.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque output of 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch.
The engine is expected to deliver a fuel efficiency of around 28 kmpl.
Both Triumph 400 duo get dual-channel ABS (switchable with Scrambler 400X), traction control, a semi-digital instrument cluster, all-LED lighting, heated grips (optional), USB Type-C charging port, gear position indicator, and more.
At Rs 2.23 lakh lakh base price (ex-sh), Triumph’s 400 duo will rival upcoming KTM 390 range with a bigger 399cc engine (rumoured).
