Innovative Y-AMT Automatic Transmission and Riding Modes

A standout feature of the MT-07 is Yamaha’s Y-AMT automatic transmission, akin to that found on the MT-09. This transmission includes two automatic settings—D mode for seamless, quick upshifts and D+ mode for a more spirited, performance-oriented shifting experience. By removing the need for a clutch and gear levers, gear changes are now executed via sensors and actuators, streamlining the riding process. For riders who favor a more traditional approach, a manual mode is also offered, enabling gear shifts through up and down buttons located on the left switchgear.

Upgraded Electronics and Powertrain

The MT-07 now boasts advanced electronic features, such as a ride-by-wire throttle, switchable traction control, multiple riding modes, and cruise control, accommodating a variety of riding preferences and conditions. The new model is also equipped with a slipper clutch for smoother deceleration, while the manual variant includes an assist function for easier clutch operation.

At the heart of the 2025 MT-07 is a 689cc CP2 parallel-twin engine that produces 72.4bhp at 8,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 67Nm at 7,750 rpm. It is offered with both a six-speed manual transmission and the Y-AMT automatic option. Additionally, the engine has been refined with an updated airbox, intake funnels, and enhanced fuel tank ports to provide a more polished sound and improved performance.

Upgraded Chassis and Braking System

Yamaha has also made significant hardware improvements in the new MT-07. The bike now sports 41mm upside-down forks in the front and a rear monoshock for smoother handling and improved comfort. Additionally, braking performance is enhanced with a pair of four-piston radially mounted calipers up front, ensuring robust stopping power suited to spirited rides and urban commuting alike.

With the 2025 MT-07 set to hit international markets soon, Yamaha’s plan to expand its premium motorcycle offerings could see this upgraded MT-07 debut in India as well, providing riders with an ideal balance of performance, convenience, and cutting-edge technology.
