Yamaha Unveils the All-New YZF-R9 Supersport Motorcycle with Advanced Features
Yamaha has introduced the YZF-R9, a completely new supersport motorcycle aimed at enhancing its esteemed R-series lineup. Situated between the YZF-R7 and the flagship YZF-R1, the YZF-R9 combines striking design with cutting-edge performance features, making it a remarkable addition to the series.
The design adheres to Yamaha’s R-series heritage, showcasing sleek, aerodynamic bodywork complemented by an aggressive front fairing that includes winglets to enhance downforce. A centrally positioned LED projector headlight, accompanied by LED daytime running lights, accentuates its bold look. The sharp contours on the side fairings and tail section further enhance its sporty aesthetic. The motorcycle is available in three color options: Team Yamaha Blue, Intensity White/Redline, and Matte Raven Black.

At the heart of the YZF-R9 lies Yamaha’s lightweight Deltabox aluminum frame, which significantly enhances handling and agility. This frame is paired with a fully adjustable KYB front fork and a rear monoshock, ensuring precise control and comfort on both road and track. The motorcycle is equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with Battlax Hypersport S22F tires, providing exceptional grip across various conditions.

Braking performance is delivered by dual 320 mm front discs with Brembo Stylema calipers, along with a 220 mm rear disc. The motorcycle achieves an almost perfect 50-50 weight distribution, promoting stability and control at high speeds.
The YZF-R9 is powered by an 890cc, crossplane, inline-triple engine that generates 117 BHP, similar to the powerplant found in the MT-09. This engine is paired with a six-speed transmission and is renowned for its robust performance and distinctive exhaust sound.

Yamaha has equipped the YZF-R9 with sophisticated electronics managed by an IMU-based system, which includes traction control, wheelie control, cornering ABS, and customizable riding modes. All settings can be easily accessed through the switchgear, with information displayed on a TFT screen for the rider’s convenience.
The Yamaha YZF-R9 is available globally for $12,499 (approximately ₹10.5 lakhs). Should it be launched in India, the price is anticipated to increase significantly due to import duties.
