The Triumph Speed Twin is positioned under the British manufacturers lineage of modern-classic motorcycles. It derives majority of its styling from its younger sibling, the Street Twin and gets a retro-looking circular headlamp with an LED DRL that is flanked by LED turn indicators on both sides. The bike also gets a twin-pod instrument cluster that accentuates its classic retro look. However, to give it a modern appeal, most of the Speed Twin’s components like the drivetrain, wheels and suspension are blacked-out.
The Triumph Speed Twin uses the same chassis as the Thruxton R. It even uses the 1200cc, parallel-twin engine from the latter. This unit generates 96bhp of power and 112Nm of torque and comes paired to a six-speed gearbox. Braking duties are done by dual 305mm discs upfront with Brembo four-piston calipers and a 220mm disc at the rear.
Meanwhile, telescopic forks at the front and twin shocks at the rear take care of suspension duties. In terms of electronic aids, the Speed Twin is equipped with three riding modes- Road, Rain and Sport along with traction control, ride-by-wire throttle and dual-channel ABS. Its biggest rival in the country comes from Ducati in the form of the Scrambler 1100.
