Key Specification & Features of Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer
The Triumph Tiger 1200 is the larger of the two Tigers and was previously known as the Explorer. The reason for the change of name is the sheer number of changes between the current and previous models. Triumph claims that there are over 100 changes to the larger of the Tigers. Some of them are internal, like a lighter engine that generates only 2bhp more but has a flatter torque curve and a kerb weight that is 11kg less.
Some are external, like the all-LED headlamps and the Arrow exhaust, which is now standard. The Tiger 1200 also benefits from the color TFT screen for its instrumentation, and you can choose different layouts. There is a two-way quick-shifter, semi-active suspension, cruise control, a hill-hold function, an electrically adjustable windscreen, cornering headlamps, and an integrated braking system among the features.
The XC models also get an extra mode called Off-Road Pro which turns off the ABS and traction control completely. Only the XCx has made it to India, meaning it is an off-road-focused motorcycle. The Tiger 1200 has been launched at Rs 17 lakh, and many accessories to make off-road duty or touring easier are available. It will compete with other off-road-focused adventure touring motorcycles like the BMW R1200 GS Adventure and Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro.
