The new-for-2018 model has a reworked engine although with an identical power output, different headlamps, sharper-looking body panels, and a smaller, lighter exhaust. The XR is a road-biased version of the Tiger 800. It gets Showa front forks with 140mm of travel. The rear shock is also a Showa unit and has adjustable preload. The wheels are 19-inch and 17-inch alloy wheels at the front and rear, since it is a road-biased motorcycle. You get Metzeler Tourance tyres on the XR. On the equipment list is switchable ABS, traction control system (TCS), adjustable seat height, adjustable brake and clutch levers and the 12V and USB power sockets. The Triumph Tiger 800 XR competes with the BMW F750 GS, Ducati Multistrada 950 and Suzuki V-Strom 1000.
