The Triumph Tiger Explorer is an adventure motorcycle from the iconic British manufacturer. It was brought to India in late 2013 as a part of Triumphs line up and is part of the Tiger family of adventure motorcycles currently on sale here.In terms of overall design, it has the necessary features to make it an adventure motorcycle like the upright seating position, high ground clearance, specialised front faring with high windshield and alloy wheels.
Its unique elements include special guards for the engine and body work that appear to be naked bits of the frame giving the bike a muscular appearance, adjustable ABS, traction control, cruise control and ride-by-wire throttle. The Tiger Explorer is powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine that produces 135bhp and 121Nm of torque making it effective for low speed manoeuvres despite weighing a rather portly 259kgs. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a six-speed sequential gearbox and a shaft drive.
The bike is underpinned by a tubular trellis steel frame with upside down forks in front and a monoshock at the rear. Triumph has fitted the front with a 305mm front disc and a 282mm disc in the rear. Triumph offers the Tiger in three shades-crystal white, graphite and sapphire blue.
