This rationale also applies to the Indian market, known for its price sensitivity. Recently, Rajiv Bajaj, the CEO of Bajaj Auto, hinted at the development of a potential CNG motorcycle for both the Indian and international markets. The spotted Bajaj CNG motorcycle in India appears to be undergoing benchmarking against a Platina model.

The entire motorcycle was heavily camouflaged during testing, indicating that it will likely be a commuter motorcycle. This unique design is not currently present in Bajaj’s global portfolio, making it a first for the brand. The motorcycle features a small fuel tank, possibly for aesthetic purposes, maintaining a traditional motorcycle design. Additionally, a long seat extending towards the rear end includes a standard grab rail, while large knuckle guards are visible on the handlebar.

When will it launch?
Other features of the motorcycle include RSU telescopic front forks, a rear mono-shock setup, drum brakes on both the front and rear, alloy wheels with tubeless tires, a rear tire hugger, halogen turn indicators, and more. Anticipated features consist of halogen headlights, tail lights, analog-digital combo instrument clusters, and other basic functionalities.
In terms of powertrains, the upcoming Bajaj CNG motorcycle may utilize an engine shared with existing commuter models. However, it will undergo necessary modifications to accommodate CNG fuel. The CNG tank could potentially be positioned beneath the elongated seat, directly attached to the bike’s frame. Bajaj is expected to introduce this CNG motorcycle by mid-2024, possibly in July 2024 or later.
