Hero Vida’s Electric Scooter Launch This Festive Season

This is, probably, Vida’s upcoming electric scooter

Hero MotoCorp’s EV brand Vida will launch its first electric scooter this festive season

Hero MotoCorp’s EV brand Vida will launch its first electric scooter coming festive season, that’s just around 4 months from now. The company said the delay was due to the ongoing geopolitical situation caused by war and the global semiconductor shortage.

Vida – Powered by Hero MotoCorp is the Indian 2-wheeler giant’s answer to Hero Electric which, as per an agreement made over a decade ago, prevented Hero MotoCorp from using the ‘Hero Electric’ name for its upcoming EVs.

Vida means ‘life’ in Spanish and sunrise in the brand’s logo. Company’s upcoming electric scooter will be manufactured at its ‘Green’ production facility at Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh.

Vida’s upcoming electric scooter got leaked last year and looks inspired from the now discontinued Bajaj Saffire. The front beak which reportedly houses the head light gets a blunt finish like the Saffire. It also sits a little bit high exposing the twin-telescopic shock absorbers.

While the front alloy wheel has 5 pairs of spokes, the rear makes to do with 5 plain spokes. This is the trend we see almost in all Chinese imports. But, we hope the scooter is purely made in India.

Vida will also launch electric motorcycles in the long run

The body panels get a dual tone finish and the scooter pictured above features a metallic white shade. While the floor board is flat, the seat is quite tall and slanting. It must be seen how ergonomically good the upcoming scooter is.

The rear panels are plain like that of the yesteryear Kinetic Honda but they do get detailing at certain places. For example, the rear grab handle gets a gun metal finish and looks good neatly tucked under the protruding seat.

When launched, the Vida scooter will take the fight against the Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450X, TVS iQube, and Bajaj Chetak.

While it’s true that the semiconductor shortages are haunting manufacturers across the globe, Hero MotoCorp might also have cautiously postponed the launch to the winter season as a lot of EVs are catching fire in the ongoing season.
