The highly awaited Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has commenced its high-altitude, extreme weather testing phase. The adventure tourer bike’s test prototype was recently caught testing in the snow-covered hilly roads of Ladakh, between the Khardung La Pass and Nubra Valley.

The latest short video shows a pair of Himalayan 450 prototypes being tested in between snowy Khardung la and Nubra valley. As seen in the latest spy shots, the motorcycle appears identical to the model spotted earlier this month.

This is the first time Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has been testing in snow. As seen in the video, both motorcycles are using spoked rims and AT tyres. Additionally, the snow chain is also visible which makes sense looking at the riding conditions. It looks like the riders are taking it slow given the conditions of the road. However, we can not judge how the bike feels until the production version is launched & we get to test it.

Specs & Rivals

The new platform is rumored to displace around 450cc while developing around 35 bhp of power and around 40 Nm of torque. A 6-speed transmission is finally making its way into Royal Enfield’s single-cylinder lineup.

The spy shot confirms a few things we already knew about the upcoming ADV, like it will feature an upside down fork at the front, a monoshock at the rear and wire spoke wheels, with the sizes likely to be 21-inch at the front and 17-inch at the rear. However, the monoshock appears to be unusually long and is placed at quite an angle, which perhaps enables it to have a relatively lower seat height.

Some of the visible features are the LED headlight with LED turn indicators. The taillight is also an LED unit with a short tail design. Additionally, the bike also gets a windshield that beholds an LCD digital instrument pod.
