150 cc bike sales in April 2022 show greatest setback for Bajaj Pulsar 150 and TVS Apache RTR series
The 150cc bike sales in April 2022 was quite a mixed bag with some motorcycles recording growth while others facing a negative growth. But, TVS Apache RTR series and Bajaj Pulsar 150 have witnessed 1 of the never-before-seen sales losses in their decade-long history.
The loss for Bajaj and TVS became the great gain for Yamaha and Honda as Yamaha FZ 15 series became the best selling 150s in April followed by Honda Unicorn with the 160cc heart.
The Unicorn 160 is now just called the ‘Unicorn’ as Honda doesn’t want to publicly reveal the bike’s bigger displacement to the customers who never want anything other than the previous Honda Unicorn 150.
The Yamaha MT-15 version 2.0 has made a grand entry into India clinching the third place, single-handedly overtaking all the versions of the R15 combined. The lone MT has not just overtaken all the R15s but also by a huge margin of over 1300 units.
Owing to MT-15s arrival, R15s got placed behind it at the fourth place followed closely by TVS Apache RTR series.
Even though Bajaj Pulsar 150 has faced dismissal sales, it’s the RTR series which have suffered the greatest loss as they comprise of as many as 5 bikes – RTR 200 4V, RTR 160 4V, RTR 165 RP, RTR 180, and RTR 160.
The Hero Xtreme 160R and Bajaj Pulsar 150 took the next 2 spots. April has turned out to be the least performing month for Bajaj. At eighth came the Suzuki Gixxer and SF twins.
Surprisingly, though Honda Hornet 2.0, CB200X, and Xblade have come last, they have witnessed amazing growth. They have seen almost 4 times increase in sales.
