Yamaha Unveils the XSR155 with Neo-Retro Styling and Modern Features
Yamaha unveiled the XSR155 at the 2024 Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMC), and it is truly impressive. The XSR155 seamlessly combines contemporary performance with a classic aesthetic, distinguishing itself in the neo-retro motorcycle category. Its design is reminiscent of its larger counterparts, the XSR700 and XSR900, and it is built on the R15 V4 platform, utilizing the same 155cc engine and structural components. The bike’s teardrop-shaped fuel tank and flat seat contribute to its vintage charm, while Yamaha provides a variety of accessories for personalization.

In spite of its retro appearance, the XSR155 incorporates modern features such as LED headlights and taillights, along with a circular digital instrument panel that harmonizes with the bike’s classic design. It merges traditional styling with contemporary technology, delivering essential information such as speed, gear position, and fuel levels in an intuitive format.
Equipped with a 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, the XSR155 shares its powertrain with the R15 V4 and MT-15 V2. This engine generates 19.3PS and 14.7Nm, providing ample power for city commuting and spirited weekend rides. Additionally, it features a 6-speed transmission and a slip-and-assist clutch, ensuring smooth gear shifts and enhanced control, particularly during aggressive downshifts.

Nevertheless, many motorcycle enthusiasts in India are hopeful that Yamaha will eventually introduce the XSR155 in the market, where it could compete with models such as the Honda CB350 RS.
