Powered by a 562cc, parallel-twin engine, 2023 scooter was spotted testing in India

Yamaha, a prominent player in the global 2-wheeler industry, has continuously maintained its position as a frontrunner in the scooter sector on a worldwide scale. Known for its wide array of scooters catering to different categories and engine sizes, Yamaha’s top-of-the-line scooter, the TMAX560, has recently received updates in multiple international markets.

2024 Yamaha TMAX560 Debuts

Yamaha has officially revealed the updated TMAX560 in Japan on February 29th, showcasing two versions – TMAX560 and TMAX560 Tech Max. Both models share the same hardware and powertrain, with slight variations in their features. The TMAX560 is priced starting at RM 75K (Rs. 13 lakh, ex-showroom) in Malaysia and JPY 1,408,000 (Rs. 7.75 lakh) in Japan.

The 2024 Yamaha TMAX560 introduces new exterior color options while maintaining its unique design. In Japan, the standard TMAX560 is offered in Matte Black with Racing Blue wheels, whereas the TMAX560 Tech Max is available in Matte Dark Reddish Grey and Matte Dark Grey. In Malaysia, the TMAX560 comes in Dark Magma and Tech Black color choices.

What does it pack?

The TMAX is an impressive scooter that exudes authority on the streets. It showcases a striking and aggressive front design, complete with LED lighting, gold-finished USD telescopic front forks, and a mono-shock rear suspension.

Additionally, it offers a tall transparent windscreen, ensuring a comfortable riding experience. The ergonomics are designed for utmost comfort, with plush seats for both the rider and pillion. Safety is prioritized with dual disc brakes at the front, a rear single disc braking setup, and dual-channel ABS.

Furthermore, the TMAX incorporates advanced technology features such as a 7-inch TFT instrument display, Garmin navigation, an electrically operated windscreen, heated seats, heated grips, cruise control, and various other amenities. It also boasts a spacious under-seat storage compartment, a 15L fuel tank, and a total weight of 220 kg.

Yamaha TMAX560 Dashboard

At the heart of the TMAX560 lies its powerful 560cc DOHC 4V parallel-twin-cylinder engine, which generates an impressive 47.6 bhp and 55.7 Nm of torque. This engine is coupled with a CVT and belt-drive system, ensuring smooth and efficient power delivery.

India Launch Plans

The introduction of the 2024 Yamaha TMAX560 holds significant importance for the Indian market. This claim is supported by the discovery of a Yamaha TMAX560 test mule in India, which was found with temporary Karnataka state registration plates in red. This development has sparked speculation about Yamaha’s plans to launch the TMAX in India, as evidenced by recent sightings.

This possibility becomes even more significant when considering the landscape of premium, large-capacity scooters in India. On one end, we have the Keeway Sixties 300i and Vieste 300, both 278.2cc scooter twins priced at around Rs. 3.3 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other end, we have the BMW C400GT, featuring a single-cylinder 350cc engine and a hefty price tag of Rs. 11.25 lakh (ex-showroom).

If Yamaha were to enter the market with a high-capacity sporty scooter priced around Rs. 8 lakh, it could present an attractive proposition. The recently spotted TMAX560 could potentially fill such a position in the market.
