Hero Destini 125 series have witnessed the highest YoY growth of 1917 percent

May 2022 2-wheeler sales show buyers’ preference for 100-125 cc segments, Honda Unicorn and Bajaj Pulsar 150 not in the list

May 2022 2-wheeler sales saw many twists and turns with some hot battles as well for finding a place in the the top 25 list.

As May 2021 had Covid pandemic at its peak, all the 2-wheelers in this list have recorded high positive growth and their YoY growth, this time, won’t be a genuine performance indicator.

Yet for the sake of reference, Hero Destini and Honda Dio have posted the highest growth of 1917 percent and 1108 percent respectively.

As usual, the first 2 places have been taken by Hero Splendor series and Honda Activa series, both selling lakhs of units. The third and fourth place were taken by Hero HF series and Honda (Shine + SP125) respectively, again, selling lakhs of units.

At number 5, TVS Jupiter distantly followed the top contenders with over 60k unit sales. Bajaj Pulsar 125 trailed behind Jupiter selling over 3k units less than the TVS’ best-selling scooter.

At number 7, 8, and 9, Suzuki Access 125, TVS XL100, and Hero Super Splendor fought a good battle selling more than 30k units.

Taking the 10th place as the previous month, Royal Enfield Classic 350 fell short of 30k sales by a whisker. But, still, it’s the 1 and only 350 in this top 25 list. It remains unbeatable in its segment. The Classic was closely followed by Hero Glamour.

After posting dismissal performance the previous month along with the Bajaj Pulsar 150, TVS Apache series are back in the list taking the 12th spot with over 27k unit sales.

Bajaj Pulsar 150, again, failed to take a place in this list. Unfortunately, Honda Unicorn too has posted dismissal performance and no longer in the list.

2022 Royal Enfield Classic 350 Review 27
Royal Enfield Classic 350 is the 10th largest selling 2-wheeler in the country

The TVS Apache series were followed by moto scooters – TVS Ntorq 125 and Honda Dio at number 13 and 14 respectively. The duo were followed by Hero’s Pleasure+ XTEC. The XTEC tag was a much needed addition to the ailing scooter from Hero.

Bajaj Platina series and Yamaha FZ series took the next 2 places. The FZ brand has become the best seller for Yamaha thanks to the segment-best starting price. The Platina is slowly losing its sheen among buyers and, now, craves for a generation change.

Suzuki Burgman Street has become the greatest gainer in the month of May. It has displaced 6 2-wheelers for the 18th place from the 24th place it took the previous month. It’s the country’s most affordable maxi scooter.

The next 5 places were taken by commuters – TVS Sport, Hero Destini 125 series, Honda Dream Deluxe CD110, Honda Livo, and TVS Radeon.

After a long time, Livo has found a place in this list. At number 24, Ola S1 Pro is the lone electric scooter trailed by Suzuki Avenis in the last place.
